So far FNB has run very successful ad campaigns. Sure Steve annoyed us for about a year, but eventually he became the love to hate you guy. And it worked. Before the Steve campaign, FNB was not a force to be reckoned with in the South African banking landscape. It is now. Even their Beep Bank campaign is great, but when they tried to go all sentimental and speak of change, not just changing your bank but real change, the ANCYL had a problem.

With the public outcry, FNB removed their ad. And of course Nando's was as quick as ever.

Dinner with friends

Last night I went to a friend for dinner. The food was amazing and a good evening was had by all. What I want to focus on is one of perhaps the most ridiculous but what I find to be extremely funny quotes that emerged at the dinner table. 

My sibling is currently completing her articles at a patent law firm and we were trying to come up with ideas that we could patent. She kept on shooting them down, because apparently there are a lot of misconceptions around what can be patented and what can not. Among all this we learned that you cannot take two ideas and combine them to make a new one. None of that hippie the whole is greater than the sum of its parts stuff. So our idea of McSteers or MacStears would not fly. Especially on the trade mark side. We then enquired if you could just work for one firm as a patent attorney, but that would lead to a conflict of interest. And that is where the most ridiculous quote ever emerged. True story.

Sew easy: I made a dress

For my birthday last year I got a sewing machine. My family always mocks me and says that I have taken on the "tannie" lifestyle. I love crafting and baking way too much. I am owning it. Over the holidays I decided to make a dress and this is how it turned out. 

I can't wait to perfect my dress making skills.

Cup cakes for your face: vanilla

I had such an awesome long break. I got to do all the things that I usually don't have time for, like baking. Here is an easy cup cake recipe that never fails to impress. 

The recipe

I used this recipe and it is super easy to follow and came out perfectly. It makes 12 delicious cup cakes.

The Icing

I then used whatever what was in the cupboard to come up with a delicious chocolate butter icing and a ninja turtle green water icing.
