The Humble Fugu

This fugu family is made by Zooguu and can be bought here. They are super cute. I have been fascinated with the fugu ever since I discovered that chefs need to obtain a special license to prepare and serve fugu to the public. This involves a two or three year apprenticeship, a written test, a fish identification test and for the grand finale you have to prepare and eat your fugu. This is all fun and games, but fugu is highly toxic and if you mess up the preparation (by say, splitting open the highly toxic liver) it can be fatal. For more details on this delicacy watch National Geographic's A Delicacy to Die For. For my birthday two years ago my friend bought me an awesome jelly fugu. He sits on my mantel next to a beaded goat that another friend sent me a few years back. I like animals. For fugu fiction read this aptly titled short story: Fugu by Daniel Sage. Finally here is a WTF for you to consider: petite lap giraffes.

The Sunburn Saga and Another Major Event

This is the title of an awesome comic book by James Kochalka and you can read more about his work here. It also happens to be what I achieved this weekend thanks to my haphazard style of sunscreen application. Going to the beach happens to be one of my favourite leisure activities, but I have been blessed with pasty white British skin that turns a darker shade of rouge before going brown and/or peeling, I therefore need sunscreen. As Baz Luhrmann so wisely states Wear Sunscreen. And now for something completely different: an event which entails a certain terrorist who has left us. For an alternative and hilarious take on events, check out Will Ferrel's impersonation of Bush here.I think a Martin Luther King Jr. quote best sums this up "Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

About last weekend

On Friday many a news station broadcasted the Royal Wedding. It was kind of big deal. Those in the US of A woke up early to catch the ceremony on TV, those in England could go and see the event or join a block party and those at work used the Youtube. Check out this awesome web series called Will and Kate: Before Happily Ever After. It was also the White House Correspondent's Dinner and Seth Myers and Prez Obama gave brilliant speeches. And of course they couldn't help but make a few references about Trump's possible run for the presidency. As Jerry Seinfeld recently said "I love Donald Trump, all comedians love Donald Trump. If God gave comedians the power to invent people, the first person we would invent is Donald Trump... God's gift to comedy." Today is Monday. Check out this Funny or Die "I.F.H Mondays". Happy Monday People.
